Maddy is the pastry mind behind Mood Bake. A Taos native, she has spent more than a decade working in bakeries and restaurants across the country—from Chicago and Portland to New Orleans, Cape Cod, and New York. It was in New York’s dynamic pop-up food scene that Mood Bake first began to take shape, giving Maddy the room to develop her own distinct voice in an industry that often leaves little space for women, queer folks, and people of color.
Grounded in the belief that food spaces should feel intentional, safe, and inclusive, Maddy eventually returned home to Taos to help build Mood Bake within the community that shaped her. She guides the culinary direction of events and weddings and loves collaborating with couples and clients to explore ideas, refine concepts, and bring their visions to life through thoughtful, beautifully executed food experiences.
Avery is the co-owner and farmer behind Mood Bake, bringing a background steeped in agriculture and land stewardship. Raised in Northern California among working farmlands, Avery began farming in their teens and has since committed to regenerative practices that prioritize soil health and community wellbeing. As the team’s gluten-free and vegan creator, they ensure those offerings are both accessible and delicious. Avery also leads most of Mood Bake’s client communication — from email correspondence to event coordination — providing a clear, organized, and welcoming point of contact for couples and collaborators.
Avery and Maddy met in New York, forming a partnership rooted in shared values and a desire to build something meaningful together. A cross-country road trip became the beginning of Mood Bake’s next chapter in Taos, where Avery immediately found resonance in the town’s thoughtful and supportive community. Mood Bake focuses on growing and sourcing ingredients that reflect their commitment to sustainable agriculture. The two are currently developing Mood Bake’s upcoming educational programming, which will center on farming, food systems, and community empowerment.
